Sanctuary boss escapes jail for theft of greyhound

Animal hospice owner also called cop a ‘moron’
The owner of an animal sanctuary found guilty of stealing a dog and calling a police officer a “moron” escaped a prison sentence yesterday.
Alexis Fleming of The Maggie Fleming Animal Hospice at Ringliggate, near Dundrennan, was told by a sheriff she had “no insight” into her behaviour and that she was “antagonistic, threatening and abusive”.
Fleming, 49, had denied stealing a greyhound belonging to a woman between April 9 and May 12 last year at West Cottage, Chapleton, near Kirkcudbright.
