Region's drug death toll

Seven people in Dumfries and Galloway are believed to have lost their lives to substance misuse in the first three months of 2025.

New figures from Police Scotland and the Scottish Government show there were 308 suspected drug deaths across Scotland between July and March.
That's up from 232 in the final three months of 2024, with seven of those in Dumfries and Galloway.
There were 40 suspected drug deaths in the region last year.
