Petition calls to keep lollipop lady on road
The Galloway News
|June 12, 2025
Parents fear a school crossing is “far too dangerous” without a lollipop lady.
The crossroads near Dalbeattie Learning Campus are currently patrolled at the start and end of the school day and at lunchtime.
However, that will end come the new school term, with youngsters relying on traffic lights and signals to cross the busy junction.
Local resident Diana Finnigan has now set-up a petition calling for a rethink, with hundreds of locals backing the plea.
Diana, whose 10-year-old grandson goes to the school, said: "It has lights and I think they're trying to argue because there's lights, the lollipop lady is not really needed.
