When Children Grow Up

There's a popular story about an old man who, one afternoon, brought his phone to a repair shop believing that there was something wrong with it. The technician, after checking it for a while, told him that there was nothing wrong with it.

The man then asked, “So how come my children never call me...?”

Aging can be a lonely and feel empty when one’s children have grown and have lives of their own. Though it is a great joy for parents to see their children grow up, it is a greater joy when they shower them with love, affection and attention, despite of their age.

But it is sad to note that this doesn’t happen in reality all the time. Like a friend of mine who is a widow and has two children living abroad. She laments that her children never really have time for her — even to stop and call her.
