So if the incoming mayor says we need to trust, then we should. Let us give him the benefit of the doubt that he can deliver. In the event that he cannot meet his promises, the people can always hold him accountable for his words.
However, the public must also understand that being the city's chief executive is not an easy job. In fact, he emphasized that it is not a one-man task. It takes a village to move Cebu City into a better state than what it is now.
It was instrumental for this writer to witness them take their oath at the Plaza Sugbo grounds, where their careers in local governance began. I was a cub reporter then, covering City Hall, and both have been kind sources like many others. They were open to sharing their plans and visions for the city, backed by research and expertise. One, is an engineer and environmentalist; the other, an agriculture economist and manager. To say that Cebu City is in good hands would be an understatement, based on credentials. At this point, we just have to wait until noon on Monday, sit back, and trust.
