Province turns over 300 armchairs to MCC

The Cebu Provincial Government officially turned over 300 armchairs to the Mandaue City College (MCC) yesterday, August 26.
Vice Governor Glenn Anthony Soco personally led the turnover following reports that the city-run college was struggling with a shortage of chairs for its students.
This school year, the institution has a total of 2,700 enrollees.
Soco said he was prompted to make the donation after reading news reports that Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano, who was once his fellow board member, had appealed for donations.
According to Soco, the chairs came from his inventory during his time as a member of the Provincial Board representing Cebu’s Sixth District, which includes Mandaue City.
The chairs were part of the surplus during Soco’s term as board member but were not distributed because of the election ban. Now that he is vice governor, he said he is glad to give them where they are most needed.
The turnover was also supported by Mandaue City Board Members Malcolm Sanchez and Olin Seno.
