Parents urged to keep tabs on kids

Mandaue City officials have urged parents to closely monitor their children, especially during the rainy season.
The reminder was issued after three minors were spotted swimming in the Butuanon River near Cambogaong Bridge in Barangay Paknaan on Thursday, August 21.
Despite repeated warnings from authorities and concerned residents about the dangers of entering the river amid continuous rains, the children still went into the water.
Captain Marisa Fe Tecling confirmed that barangay personnel had already warned the children against swimming in the river, but once the personnel left, the youngsters returned to the water.
“Mao g’yud na kanang mga batan-on nga di g’yud nimo mapugngan bisan unsaon og badlong,” said Tecling.
“Among gibadlong Paknaan Barangay unya gahi lagi og ulo, inig lakaw sa personnel, mobalik sad sila,” she added.
