Metro Pacific Investments reopens mangrove center

The Metro Pacific Investments Foundation, Inc. (MPIF) has reopened the Mangrove Propagation and Information Center (MPIC) in Barangay Pilipog, Cordova, following extensive renovations after it was heavily damaged by Typhoon Odette in December 2021.
The center, operated under MPIF’s environmental program "Shore It Up!", is the first of its kind in the Visayas dedicated solely to mangrove protection and propagation. It aims to serve as a venue for environmental education, community-based marine preservation, and sustainable tourism.
MPIF is the corporate social responsibility arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), the parent firm of the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC)—builder and operator of the 8.9-kilometer Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) that connects Cebu City to Mactan Island.
In a press release, the restoration of the two-story facility was funded with P4.5 million, part of a broader post-Odette recovery effort spearheaded by the MVP Group of Companies.
