March-rally to mark 40th EDSA anniversary in Cebu

Various organizations will mark the 40th anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution on Wednesday, February 25, with march-rally from Freedom Park to Colon Street in downtown Cebu City.
Jaime Paglinawan, chairperson of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) Central Visayas, said the mobilization will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Freedom Park. Participants will march through the Carbon area toward Metro Colon, where the main program will be held.
At 1:30 p.m., the group will proceed to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño to attend a Holy Mass. A cultural night is also scheduled at 4p.m. at the Oblation Square of the University of the Philippines Cebu.
Paglinawan said the commemoration goes beyond remembering the abuses during the Marcos dictatorship, stressing that it also serves as a protest against present-day corruption and alleged human rights violations.
