The 21-year-old suspect who was involved in a hit-and-run in Maria Luisa Village, Barangay Banilad, Cebu City, which killed a young businessman earlier this week, was charged with two cases by authorities yesterday afternoon, February 10.
-
The accused, Sean Andrew Pajarillo, was charged with Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide and Damage to Properties. He is currently under hospital arrest after being injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, the victim was identified as 23-year-old Kingston Ralph Ko Cheng, a café owner at Ayala Center Cebu and a resident of the upscale subdivision.
It was previously reported at around 12:53 A.M. on February 8, Pajarillo, who was driving a Toyota Innova, first hit a parked Toyota Vios along the road. Instead of stopping to assess the damage, Pajarillo allegedly sped away and then later hit Cheng.
Further investigation of Cebu City Police Office-Traffic Enforcement Unit (CCPO-TEU) added that witnesses said Pajarillo continued to flee at high speed but later lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the road near Paseo Rodulfo.
Cheng was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition but later died.
As the TEU personnel apprehended Pajarillo, he failed to present a valid driver’s license as well as the official receipt and certificate of registration of the vehicle, prompting authorities to place him under hospital arrest.
