Groups to protest during SONA

Just days before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), different progressive and labor groups in Cebu launched a scathing critique of his administration, accusing it of exacerbating poverty, failing to curb inflation, and intensifying political repression.

The groups announced a major mobilization planned to coincide with the SONA.

Leading the activity is Bagong Alyansang Makabayan-Central Visayas (BAYAN-CV), which described the past three years under Marcos as a descent into hardship and fear for working-class Cebuanos.

Despite Cebu's reputation as one of the country's wealthiest provinces, BAYAN-CV highlighted persistent issues of low wages, precarious employment, and the unaffordable cost of basic services like electricity and water.
