|June 27, 2025
As Cebu Province geared up for a new chapter in governance under the leadership of incoming Governor Pamela Baricuatro, the first major initiative under her administration’s Food Security Strategy is set to kick off tomorrow, June 28, with a free training on upland and fish cage farming in the municipality of Tabogon.
-
Former Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol, who now serves as the governor's Food Security adviser, announced the activity earlier this week, emphasizing on its core objective: securing Cebu’s food supply by empowering local farmers and fisherfolks.
The training is the first step in a comprehensive approach aimed at boosting food production, minimizing supply gaps, and ensuring affordability for Cebuano households. It will be hosted by MNE Gamefarm owned by Rolly and Yolly Ybanez.
Participants will have access to technical knowledge, production tools, and post-harvest support.
This, as the program is a collaboration of multiple stakeholders including Inca Mariculture Company provider of floating fish cages, Braveheart Farms, along with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Central Visayas and the Southeast Asia Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC).
Registration is free, but limited to the first 150 participants only. Interested individuals can contact Salvin Lagumbay at 0927-7687991.
Participants will then be given an option to avail themselves of a rent-to-own fish cage or fish tanks from Inca Mariculture Company.
