City to monitor e-bike drivers
The Freeman
|December 18, 2025
Mayor Nestor Archival has directed barangays and the police to intensify the monitoring of e-bike drivers following reports of robberies allegedly involving riders, as the city rolls out coordinated safety measures ahead of the holiday season.
-
In his regular press conference at City Hall this week, Archival instructed the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) to work closely with barangay captains to determine the number of registered e-bike drivers, validate legitimate operators, and submit detailed reports.
The directive follows an incident last week in which at least two e-bike drivers were arrested for alleged holdup along Urgello Street in Barangay Sambag II. Police said the victims were robbed at around 1:40 a.m., and charges of robbery with threat and intimidation were later filed against the suspects.
