While acknowledging that there are incumbent officials in Cebu City who are running in the May 12 midterm polls, the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) has started monitoring employees who are participating in political activities and to ensure that no government resources are being used for electioneering.
-
In an interview with The Freeman, Henry Tomalabcad, HRDO chief, said he already received a copy of the resolution approved by the City Council reminding all government employees, including City Hall workers, to avoid any form of electioneering or partisan political activities.
He said this has already been discussed among department heads, reiterating that the resolution reinforced the joint memorandum circular issued by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
“Gi-warn nato ang mga empleyado not to engage in any electioneering and any partisan activities, dili pwede sad mugamit og mga resouces and vehicles sa government,” said Tomalabcad.
He added that they must strictly enforce this memorandum, especially as the Cebu City Government has incumbent officials seeking reelection.
In line with this, Tomalabcad said they have instructed the department heads to take the lead in monitoring and to submit incident reports when necessary.
