|September 11, 2025
The Airports Business of Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. (AIC), the infrastructure arm of the Aboitiz Group, reaffirmed its role as a driver of Philippine tourism as it received the Grand Tourism Excellence Award at the recent Manila Overseas Press Club (MOPC) Grand Tourism Awards.
-
Vice President and Head of Airports Business Rafael “Rafa” M. Aboitiz said that airports are not just physical terminals but economic engines and gateways of possibility, vital to boosting tourism, trade, connectivity, and global competitiveness.
MOPC cited AIC “for creating an enabling environment and being a catalyst for the tourism boom in the Visayas and Mindanao” through its operation of Mactan-Cebu, Laguindingan, and Bohol-Panglao airports, which are projected to serve over 20 million passengers annually.
The award also recognized AIC’s broader infrastructure investments in airports, water, and digital services that contribute to tourism’s transformation and community upliftment.
