278 congressmen support Romualdez's speakership

Support for House Speaker Martin Romualdez continues to surge, with 278 congressmen officially signing a manifesto backing his continued leadership in the upcoming 20th Congress, House Deputy Speaker and Quezon Rep. David “Jayjay” Suarez said yesterday.

According to Suarez, the signatories include a majority of Liberal Party (LP) members in the House, with four out of six LP lawmakers endorsing Romualdez’s continued Speakership.
He added that a total of 285 of the more than 300 members of the House have expressed their support for Romualdez, further solidifying his hold on the chamber’s top leadership post.
“This development cements the broadening consensus across party lines that Romualdez remains the most unifying, competent, and effective choice to lead the chamber during the crucial second half of the Marcos administration,” Suarez said.
