MISTRY SET TO EXIT TATA TRUSTS
The Free Press Journal
|October 29, 2025
As the curious onlookers expected, the fate of Mehli Mistry to continue as trustee at Tata Trusts has become uncertain as the majority voted against his reappointment, a veteran source close to the philanthropic arm of the Group said on Tuesday.
The power tussle at Tata Trusts has been simmering for months. “Mistry mushkil hai, fir kon? Let’s wait, but rift is likely to deepen at Tata Trusts. “No more ‘Yeses’ at Tata Trusts, the three Big ‘Nos’ came from Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata, TVS Motor Co's chairman emeritus Venu Srinivasan and former defence secretary Vijay Singh. The three veterans voted against Mistry’s reappointment as trustee to the board of Tata Trusts after the end of his 3-year tenure on Tuesday,” two people close to the group told The Free Press Journal.
The three other trustees, former Citibank India CEO Pramit Jhaveri, lawyer Darius Khambata, and Pune-based philanthropist Jehangir HC Jehangir supported Mistry’s reappointment.

Notre Dame nuptial: Fairy tale for restoration worker
After the nuptials of emperors and kings, those of a carpenter in the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris— the timing of this fairytale couldn't be better for France, a country that is currently undergoing deep political and economic turmoil with a President as lost as a captain trying to dock a ship without an anchor, a First Lady embroiled in a humiliating scandal involving her gender, and a glorious nation that is the laughingstock of the world because of sloppy surveillance in its most prized museum causing the shameful Louvre heist in broad daylight.
