Full tuition, exam fee waiver for orphans

Following a demand by Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Shaikh that tuition and examination fees, apart from other benefits, be made available to orphan students from the current academic year, the Maharashtra government's Women and Child Development Department has announced that these students will receive full tuition and exam fee waivers starting from the academic year 202425.

As a result, orphan students will now be able to pursue higher education free of cost.
Besides, Shaikh also highlighted that many orphan students are dropping out due to the non-implementation of these government decisions.
"There is also a 1% reservation for orphans in jobs.
