TVK launches wing for crowd management

The party founded by Vijay, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, has announced the creation of a new volunteer team called “Thondar Ani’ to manage crowd movement and safety at its gatherings and roadshows.

The move comes in the wake of large-scale attendance at the party's events and is positioned as part of a broader organisational overhaul ahead of the 2026 state election.

Party insiders say Thondar Ani is intended to regulate people’s movement, establish buffer zones, coordinate with emergency and medical teams, and take first-response action when required. The initial training of selected volunteers was conducted by seven retired police officers, including V. A. Ravikumar and P. Ashokan, who focused on crowd psychology, public-safety protocol and law-enforcement coordi-

nation.
