Tech glitches, resistance stall Karnataka caste census survey

The statewide socio-educational survey (caste census) launched by the Karnataka Backward Classes Commission on September 22 ran into severe technical problems on its second day in Gadag, leaving field staff frustrated and the process slowed to a crawl.
At the Tahsildar's office premises in Gadag, enumerators reported that the survey mobile application repeatedly failed. In several cases, the app did not open at all. Even when it did, onetime passwords (OTPs) required for login did not arrive, or the app abruptly shut down after prompting for an update.
Officials said that UHI ID stickers, crucial for tracking households, were not sticking properly, creating additional confusion.
