SC reverses bail, orders 7-day training for judges

The Supreme Court has set aside the bail orders granted to a couple accused in a significant cheating case, delivering a strong criticism of the manner in which the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) and the Sessions Judge handled the bail applications.

The top court's stern response also includes a directive for both judicial officers to undergo special judicial training for a minimum period of seven days.

The Court explicitly stated it would be failing in its duty if it “turned a blind eye” to the way the ACMM granted bail and the Sessions Judge refused to interfere with that decision. Given the specific facts of the case, the Court deemed it necessary that the officers who passed “perverse” bail orders undertake special training.
