PMK factions clash over leadership ruling

Supporters of Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S. Ramadoss mounted a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Thursday, denouncing the Election Commission of India for recognising his son, Anbumani Ramadoss, as the party’s president.

Their protest underscored the deepening power struggle within the organisation, as loyalists of the veteran leader argued that the move disregarded the party’s constitutional procedures and the collective will of its cadre. G. K. Mani, one of the party’s senior figures aligned with Ramadoss, told reporters that the Delhi High Court had, during a hearing linked to petitions filed by supporters of the founder, rejected the poll panel's order naming Anbumani as the head of the party.
