Authorities have uncovered documents in the Devaswom maramath office that purport to show Vijay Mallya offered 30.3 kg of gold in 1999, and that this gold was used to plate the roof, shrine, and Dwarpalaka idols at Sabarimala in the same year.
The discovery has intensified scrutiny over record-keeping lapses and prompted legal and administrative action.
The maramath office vigilance wing seized the documents, which include directives for gold plating and financial allocations for the work.
