NITES alleges 2,500 TCS techie layoffs in Pune

The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has alleged that nearly 2,500 employees of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Pune have been forced to resign or were abruptly terminated in recent weeks. The union has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, calling the layoffs “illegal” and appealing for immediate intervention.

NITES president Adv Harpreet Singh Saluja told The Free Press Journal (FPJ) that most of the affected employees are midto senior-level professionals with 10-20 years of experience. Many are over 40 years old, burdened with EMIs, school fees and the care of elderly parents. “The sudden job loss has left families in financial and emotional distress. Children’s education and long-term financial plans have been thrown into uncertainty,’ the complaint stated.
