Man's affair with mom-in-law now a viral film in Indonesia

The Indonesian film ‘Norma’ has become a nationwide obsession, drawing audiences not only in Indonesia but also in Malaysia and Singapore.
The film, released in theatres in March and later on Netflix in August, tells the story of a marriage destroyed by a husband's affair with his mother-in-law. What has gripped audiences most is the film is based on a viral true story.
In 2022, Norma Risma, a woman from Serang City on Indonesia’s Java island, exposed her husband Rozy and her mother Rihanah’s relationship in a TikTok video. The revelation spread across social media, gathering millions of views and dominating headlines. The shocking scandal led to a film deal that has since captivated Southeast Asia.
