Two separate cases of financial irregularities involving government benefits and microfinance loans have surfaced in Bareilly and Shamli districts of Uttar Pradesh.

In Bareilly’s Aonla region, the district administration has confirmed that several married women received widow pensions despite their husbands being alive. According to the official inquiry report submitted by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, multiple instalments of the pension amount—totalling 1.23 crore—were transferred into the accounts of 56 married women and two ineligible elderly beneficiaries.
