Consumer forum ex-clerk jailed for graft

A Thane sessions court has convicted and sentenced a former clerk of the Thane District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum to one-year rigorous imprisonment for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs1,000 from an advocate.
Kishor Mankame, 59, worked as a clerk-cum-steno at the consumer court. Following a complaint by advocate Kanaksingh Boda, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Thane, laid a trap on December 14, 2017. The court records revealed he accepted a bribe inside the gents' toilet on the second floor of the district collector's office in Thane. Two notes of Rs500 denomination, dusted with anthracene powder, were recovered from the left side pocket
