Canada’s reputation as a top destination for international education is facing scrutiny after the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) revealed a massive compliance issue: nearly 47,000 foreign nationals who entered the country on student visas are now potentially residing in Canada illegally. The IRCC specifically identified India as one of the top countries of origin for this population.
The core of the problem lies in visa noncompliance, meaning these individuals are not attending classes as required by the terms of their study permits.
