Bold promises mark TVK’s entry into Assembly race

Actor-turned-politic ian Vijay has unveiled a sweeping set of aspirational targets for his party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, signalling a bold entry into the forthcoming assembly election.

- HD Bureau

Speaking at a public meeting in Sunguvarchattiram near Kancheepuram, he pledged that every household would receive a permanent home, a motorcycle and a car; every adult would attain at least a degree; all government-employed weavers and farmers would secure assured livelihoods; and public health trusts would be restored to full confidence.

The event built on earlier disclosures of the manifesto process, in which TVK mobilised former senior civil servants to craft policy packages across education, health, youth welfare and industrial growth. Officials indicate that retired IAS officers were engaged to shape a “practical, people-centred” election sheet. The announcement positions TVK as a contender to the incumbent Dravidian-majority government, invoking the legacy of the late leader M. G. Ramachandran as a symbolic reference point.
