The risks of online skin diagnosis

With the rise of AI-driven skin apps, a large number of people are now turning to technology instead of consulting a dermatologist.

But experts warn that online diagnosis comes with risks and can never replace professional medical advice. It is imperative to trust the doctor instead of depending on the AI, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making its way into healthcare, and dermatology is no exception. Today, several mobile apps claim they can scan a photo of your skin and instantly tell you if it’s acne, eczema, pigmentation, skin cancer, or even any other problem.

While this may sound convenient, doctors caution against relying on these apps for accurate diagnosis. Many people are now depending on apps instead of visiting a dermatologist, which is not advisable and can be harmful in the long run.
