The Centre and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday lauded the rationalisation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime through the "Next-Generation reforms" as a means of making the lives of citizens easier and strengthening the economy.
Soon after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had made the announcement following the GST Council meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in a post on "X" stated how during his Independence Day speech he had spoken about the government's "intention to bring the Next-Generation reforms in GST".
