The Tamil Nadu government has launched a new initiative to re-purpose excess dhotis and saris donated at large temples for distribution to smaller temples and village shrines, aiming to streamline ritual assets while aiding lesser-funded religious institutions.
At a gathering held at the Thiruveleeswarar Temple in Padi, P.K.Sekar Babu, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, described how garments offered by devotees to major temples accumulate in substantial quantities and pose storage and management challenges.
