Demand for Justice
The Free Press Journal - Indore
|January 26, 2025
The recent decision by Meta to abandon fact-checking has sparked a debate about social media's impact on public discourse.
The nation is shocked and dismayed by the lower court's judgment in the brutal rape and murder of a doctor at a Kolkata hospital. Despite the crime's extreme brutality, the court's decision that it doesn't fall under the "rarest of the rare" category is deeply flawed. The loss of a dedicated medical professional, killed in a place meant for healing, demands more than legal action; it requires a moral reckoning. The case should not be dismissed lightly, as it diminishes the victim's family's grief and the collective sense of injustice. Political infighting surrounding the case only distracts from the real issue: delivering true justice. The focus should remain on conducting a fair and impartial investigation, holding the responsible parties accountable, and ensuring such brutality is met with the harshest legal consequences, safeguarding the integrity of our institutions and protecting all citizens.
