COVID-19 Witness Resurgence, Working Population Hardest Hit

After months of low numbers, COVID-19 is gradually resurfacing in Indore, with 196 cases reported in the past three months, 175 of them in June alone, marking a clear upward trend.
Health officials confirm that the virus is once again impacting the city's working-age population the most, similar to what was seen during the second and third waves of the pandemic.
As per health department data, nearly 79% of recent cases are from the 20 to 60-year age group. The 21-40 age group, which includes office workers, professionals and daily commuters, accounts for the largest share at 48%. Another 24% of infections are from those aged 41 to 60, while only 31 patients have been reported in the 61-80 age group.

NCSC orders probe into caste bias at event

According to an official communication issued on Oct 21, the Commission has taken cognisance of the complaint, which accuses PCMC officials and contractors of discriminatory conduct toward members of the Valmiki community, many of whom are employed as sanitation workers by the civic body.
