Compensate all conned seniors

A bench of the Madras High Court, comprising Justice D. Bharatha Chakravarthy, has urged that senior citizens defrauded by con artists be granted immediate compensation—equivalent to at least 30 percent of their lost valuables or ₹5 lakh, whichever is lower, drawn from the Victim Compensation Fund—if law enforcement fails to apprehend the perpetrators or recover the stolen assets.

The judge described this amount as a baseline figure, noting that the state government retains authority to establish a higher sum in light of the frequent targeting of the elderly in various public and private settings.
