Quick commerce hits Pune’s traditional kirana stores

For more than three decades, Ramesh Agarwal’s kirana store in Nigdi Pradhikaran has been more than a shop — it has been a familiar corner where residents gathered, chatted and bought their daily essentials.

But the steady hum of business has grown faint as online delivery platforms reshape shopping habits. “Earlier, at least 100 people used to visit us daily. Now the average footfall hovers around 60,” Agarwal told The Free Press Journal (FPJ). “Beyond the revenue loss, we are even losing the personal relationships with our customers,” the trader adds.
