Sri Lankan President Holds Talks With Chinese Counterpart Xi

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake Wednesday held talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping here and discussed steps to deepen bilateral ties.

Dissanayake, who arrived here on Tuesday on a four-day visit a month after traveling to India on his first overseas trip since assuming office in September, was given a ceremonial welcome at the Great Hall of People ahead of his meeting with Xi.
Sri Lankan officials earlier said that the two sides are expected to sign agreements after the Xi-Dissanayake talks during which they will discuss steps to deepen bilateral ties.
During the State Visit, Dissanayake is scheduled to participate in several key engagements and undertake field visits focused on technological and agricultural development, as well as initiatives aimed at poverty alleviation.
