Singer Zubeen Garg dies in scuba diving accident in Singapore

Popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, best known nationwide for the hit track Ya Ali, died on Friday following a scuba diving accident in Singapore. He was 52.
According to organisers of the Northeast India Festival, Garg experienced breathing difficulties while diving and was given CPR before being rushed to Singapore General Hospital. Despite efforts to revive him, he was declared dead in the ICU around 2:30 pm IST.
The news of his untimely demise has triggered an outpouring of grief across India, with political leaders, colleagues, and fans mourning the loss of one of Assam’s most celebrated cultural icons.
