A significant event took place to honor one of India's most visionary and revered rulers at the iconic New Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi.
The launch of She - The King: Rise of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar, authored by Dr. Aditi Narayni, brought together dignitaries, scholars, and history enthusiasts to celebrate the life and legacy of a queen whose impact has long been overlooked by mainstream historical narratives.
The gathering began with a heartfelt address by Ms. Aditi Maheshwari, Publisher at Vani Prakashan. She passionately spoke about the importance of reclaiming historical narratives that honor women, particularly those whose leadership has been marginalized. She emphasized the need to revive the stories of women whose contributions to society have often been overshadowed by patriarchal accounts of history.
The Chief Guest, Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi, inaugurated the event by unveiling the book. In her speech, she linked Ahilyabai Holkar's story to contemporary themes of women's empowerment, drawing connections with initiatives like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. She highlighted Ahilyabai's role as a beacon of justice, compassion, and inclusive leadership, which remains relevant even today.
