Purifying Your Karma: Spiritual Remedies for Past Life Misdeeds
The Daily Guardian
|May 19, 2025
In the realm of Hindu philosophy, the concept of karma is one of the most profound and significant teachings.
Karma, derived from the Sanskrit word meaning "action" or "deed," suggests that every action we perform has consequences. These actions accumulate over our lifetimes and create the sum total of our experiences, both positive and negative, which we carry with us into the present life. The cycle of karma and reincarnation means that the actions performed in one life can have a direct impact on the quality of the next life.
The question arises, then: how does one negate the bad karmas of previous lives? While it may seem daunting to carry the weight of negative actions from past lifetimes, there are spiritual paths and practices that guide individuals in purifying their karmic debt. By understanding the principles of karma and adopting the right practices, one can work towards negating the effects of bad karma and ensuring a more peaceful, fulfilling, and spiritually aligned life.
Understanding Karma and Its Effects Before delving into how to negate bad karmas, it's essential to understand the nature of karma. In essence, karma is the universal law of cause and effect. Every action, whether good or bad, produces an effect. These effects can manifest as physical, mental, or emotional experiences, and they influence not only the current life but also future reincarnations.
THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF KARMA:
Sanchita Karma - This is the accumulated karma from all of an individual's past lives, including both good and bad deeds. It's like the total "bank balance" of karmic credit or debt.
Prarabdha Karma - This refers to the portion of sanchita karma that has started to bear fruit in the current life. It is the karma that is actively shaping our present circumstances and experiences.
Agami Karma - These are the new karmas being created in the present life. They will affect future lives, depending on the nature of the actions performed today.
