Punjab bandh: Normal life hit as rail, road traffic crippled

Punjab witnessed a near-total shutdown on Monday as thousands of passengers endured severe hardships as the rail and road traffic were paralysed due to the Punjab bandh call given by Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.
The protest, which commenced at 7 am, led to the cancellation of over 200 trains, the suspension of bus services, and massive road blockages, impacting daily life across the state and spilling over into neighbouring Haryana.
In Punjab's Dera Bassi, a massive traffic jam occurred, while in Ludhiana, an attempt was made to run over a farmer with a vehicle, and the Jhelum Express was halted in Jalandhar.
Farmers staged sit-ins at 140 locations on highways and railway tracks. Traffic remained entirely disrupted on routes such as Amritsar-Jalandhar-Panipat-Delhi and Amritsar-keepers.
