PM visiting Manipur to attend dance event, not to mourn or apologise: Congress

Congress on Thursday took a veiled dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his likely visit to Manipur, almost two and half years of violence saying he is stepping his foot in the northeastern state not to mourn or apologise but to President over a dance programme.

The Prime Minister is likely to visit Manipur on September 13 In a post on X, Congress leader Pawan Khera, who is also party's social media and publicity department chairman said, "Since the outbreak of violence in Manipur in May 2023, 258 people were killed, 60,000 individuals were displaced, 4,786 houses were burnt, 386 religious sites (churches & temples) were vandalised, women were stripped, paraded naked, and gang-raped." Taking a pot shot at the Prime Minister, Khera, who is also the Congress Working Committee (CWC)
