One man, one vote under threat: Oppn slams Bihar SIR drive

The seventeenth day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament on Tuesday witnessed heightened tensions as Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, party president Mallikarjun Kharge, and other INDIA bloc leaders staged a protest inside Parliament against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.

The protest, marked by white T-shirts emblazoned with the slogan "124 Not Out" and some MPs holding onions as a symbol of dissent, saw participation from senior figures including Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule and DMK MP Kanimozhi.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission of failing to uphold the constitutional principle of "One Man, One Vote," alleging that the institution had neglected its duty. "It is the duty of the Election Commission to enforce One Man, One Vote, but they have not done their duty. We are protecting the Constitution, and we will keep doing it," Gandhi asserted.
