No mediation on Kashmir: MEA rejects US Prez offer

India on Tuesday firmly reiterated its long-standing position that Jammu and Kashmir is a bilateral matter between New Delhi and Islamabad, dismissing US President Donald Trump's renewed offer to mediate on the issue.

"We have a long-standing national position that any issues pertaining to the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have to be addressed by India and Pakistan bilaterally," said Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. "That stated policy has not changed. As you are aware, the outstanding matter is the vacation of illegally occupied Indian territory by Pakistan," he added.
Jaiswal was responding to a question regarding President Trump's latest remarks offering to mediate in the Kashmir dispute.
