Nitin Nabin's elevation marks BJP's push for youthful leadership

The foremost signal is that relations between the RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have returned to normal. The bitterness that surfaced during the 2024 general elections has now given way to reconciliation. The RSS, albeit belatedly, has effectively endorsed the Prime Minister's choice, restoring organisational equilibrium. Following the BJP's major victory in Bihar, there were already indications of strengthening ties. Nitin Nabin is widely believed to be Prime Minister Modi's pick.

With Nitin assuming charge as working president, there are signs that the BJP, under his leadership, will field a younger team for the 2029 general elections. However, the final decision on the party president will be taken only after the end of Kharmas on January 14 next year. Traditionally, the BJP's working president is elevated to the full-fledged post. If the party adheres to precedent, Nitin Nabin is likely to become the next national president. The election schedule for the post can be announced anytime after January 14.
