Nepal's Former CJ Karki Takes Oath as Interim PM

Backed by Gen-Z, Karki emerged as consensus interim PM pick in meeting held at official residence of the President of Nepal
Sushila Karki, Nepal's former chief justice, on Friday took oath as the country's interim Prime Minister, becoming the first woman to hold the top position in the Himalayan nation.
The oath of office was administered by President Ramchandra Paudel at a formal ceremony held at Sheetal Niwas, the presidential residence in Kathmandu.
Karki's appointment follows the resignation of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who stepped down earlier this week after mounting pressure from a nationwide movement spearheaded by Gen Z activists.
The movement, driven by frustration over political corruption and a stagnant governance system, had demanded a neutral figure to guide the country through a transitional phase.
