Nepal, India partner to promote nutritious millets

In a move to bolster agricultural ties and address global food security, Nepal's Agriculture and Livestock Minister Beduram Bhushal announced today the country's readiness to collaborate with India in promoting the cultivation and consumption of millets. The announcement came during an event organised by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, in collaboration with Nepal's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, to commemorate the International Year of Millet 2023.

Minister Bhushal lauded India's leading role in promoting millets and rebranding them as "Shree Anna" or auspicious grains. He underscored the importance of millets as a nutrient-rich staple food and emphasised Nepal's commitment to join the campaign initiated by India.
