The 'dragon and elephant' step back in sync as Modi meets Xi in Tianjin.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday reaffirmed their resolve to stabilise bilateral ties, stressing that India and China are "partners, not rivals", during a meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said the leaders, meeting for the second time in less than a year after Kazan in 2024, agreed that common interests outweigh differences, which must not be allowed to turn into disputes. "A stable and amicable relationship can benefit the 2.8 billion people of both countries, and is vital for an Asian century and a multipolar world," Misri noted.
