This decision, confirmed in a fact sheet released by the White House this week, marks a significant escalation in the already heightened tensions between the two countries.

The official statement revealed that on Liberation Day, President Trump implemented a 10 percent tariff on all nations that impose high tariffs on American products. However, these tariffs were later put on hold as over 75 countries entered negotiations with the U.S. to establish new trade agreements.

The tariffs imposed on China and other countries on Liberation Day are seen as a continuation of Donald Trump's unwavering 'America First' trade policy. This action has elicited a strong backlash from China, which is resolute in its intention to retaliate against the U.S. In light of the recent introduction of a 245 percent tariff by the U.S., Lin Jian, a representative of China's Foreign Ministry, reaffirmed the government's steadfast position on tariffs, claiming that the trade dispute was initiated by the U.S. This underscores China's perspective on the trade conflict and highlights the ongoing tensions between the two nations regarding trade practices and tariffs.
