'Insult to my mother is insult to all women': PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), accusing them of insulting his late mother during the recent Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, and turning the remark into an emotive election issue ahead of the Assembly polls.

Addressing a gathering via video conference to inaugurate the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited, Modi said the derogatory words were not just an affront to his mother, but an insult to all mothers, sisters and daughters of India. "Mother is our world, our self-respect. My mother, who had nothing to do with politics and is no more, was abused from the stage of the RJD and Congress. This is painful and insulting for every woman of Bihar," he said, visibly emotional.
